Private Antenatal Care and Support

For pregnant mums in and across Buckinghamshire & Berkshire

2.png

As an expectant mother, you are entitled to antenatal care from the NHS via a series of appointments at fixed points during your pregnancy. What stretched national resources don’t always permit, however, is for you to choose the dates, times and locations of these appointments, or to talk through any worries, concerns or questions you may have with a clinician at a time and pace that suits you.

As a fully insured, independent midwife, I am able to offer you tailored care and expert advice to supplement and complement your NHS maternity care. No matter what your concern or question, I am here to help you feel comfortable, empowered and confident during your pregnancy.

Making informed choices

If you have decisions to make about your pregnancy care, or anything to do with your labour and birth, I will guide you through your options and the latest research, so that you can make considered, informed choices about what is right for you and your baby. Having time and space to understand your options will help you to discuss your wishes confidently with any healthcare professional.

I will give you copies of notes from all our discussions and the results of any tests that you can keep with the rest of your pregnancy records. If there’s anything I can’t help you with, my strong network of maternity contacts means I can refer you quickly and easily to the right hospital department or specialist.

Pregnancy should be an exciting time - I’m here to guide and support you so that you can enjoy it and look forward to the arrival of your little one.

The Sessions
Online or in the comfort of your own home

If you live within an hour of Bourne End, I will visit you in your home for each session. Virtual sessions can also be booked at the same price if you live further away, or just prefer to talk together remotely.

The sessions are yours and you can decide how you’d like to use them. Here are a few of the things that my clients like to talk about and that you may find useful yourself:

  • What to expect during labour

  • How to write a birth plan

  • Relaxation techniques

  • Induction of labour

  • Options for birth after Caesarean section

  • Options for birth of a breech baby

  • Techniques to get baby into the best position for birth

  • Twins, triplets and multiples - facts, tips and strategies

  • Postnatal care - preparation for life as a new parent

If your session is face to face, I’m also happy to complete any physical checks that you’d like, such as taking your blood pressure, checking your urine, measuring your bump and checking your baby’s heart rate.
