Care for mums, babies and families in and around Buckinghamshire

Expert Postnatal Care

Bringing home a new baby, even if it’s not your first, can be as daunting as it is exciting. It’s normal to feel overwhelmed and to need support. As part of your NHS care, you’ll receive a visit from a midwife within 36 hours of leaving hospital or having a homebirth. After this, routine NHS appointments are undertaken when your baby is 5 days old and again at 10 days old.  You will see a health professional who will check and weigh your baby, though this may not always be by a midwife and possibly not at home.

If you feel you’d like the reassurance of unhurried time with a compassionate and experienced  midwife as you start your life with your baby, I’m here to help. My goal is to support the wellbeing of you and your family, as well as your baby, and to help make your early days together as stress-free as possible.

Looking after a newborn baby is much harder than many childcare books suggest it might be – you don’t have to have any special circumstances to benefit from extra support.

Postnatal Support by My Midwife Bucks

Bespoke Sessions
£110.00 p/h

Our sessions together can be tailored to you, according to your needs and concerns and can cover any aspect of maternal or newborn care. Here are some examples of things I can help with: - Your physical wellbeing It’s important to check that you are in good health following the birth of your baby. This might include checking any stitches, taking blood pressure, discussing medication, nutrition and your overall general health. - Talking about your labour and birth. Giving birth is life-changing, for those who give it and those who witness it. If labour and birth did or didn’t go as planned, there is a good chance you’ll want to talk this through with someone who understands the intricacies of what happened in your own time. Every birth and every baby is unique. I will listen to your story and guide you through your next steps, referring you for specialist help if you need it. - Feeding your baby Whether you decide to feed your baby breastmilk, formula or both, I can support you to feed confidently and I will do so with empathy and without judgement. In your own home, I can guide you as you feed, so you can talk through any questions at your own pace and so you feel as relaxed as possible. - Supporting a new mum If your partner has given birth and you’re a new parent yourself, it is normal to feel overwhelmed. You will be keen to support mum and baby as best you can, but might not know how, or even feel entitled to ask. Your own wellbeing may be suffering or you may want practical tips on what to do to help. Whatever your situation, I am here to make your transition into parenthood as smooth as possible.

Examination Of The Newborn by My Midwife bucks

Newborn Infant Physical
Examination (NIPE)
£255.00

The NIPE is a top-to-toe examination of your baby, conducted by a midwife or other qualified healthcare professional that checks the physical health of your baby in the first 72 hours after the birth. The examination checks that your newborn’s anatomy has formed properly, which includes detailed checks on their eyes, heart and hips. If anything looks unusual, it is identified early and referred to a specialist where required. I am fully qualified to carry out this examination from the comfort of your own home.
